Compared to other Middle East countries Israel is indeed a democracy. The US is not really a functioning democracy any more so not seeing why we should throw stones at Israel.
Because Israel was right the Jews just want one little country and for some reason there not good enough to have per their many critic's. Somehow Christians and Moslems can have all the countries they want but give the Jews just one little country and oh the horror.

I know Israel takes a lot of crap. It's something they have had to deal with since 1948. Nowadays though Israel is very close to energy independence and has nukes. Israel knows that their only real enemy is not the Arab nations but Iran and the Palestians. There is also the growing threat of possible sanctions in the West as the West becomes more left wing and more Islamic. Israel has trading partners and knows it eventually will have to get by without certain Western countries. Israel is actually developing closer ties with the Gulf Arabs.Here a good summary... or overview...
