If the battle of Westport is the Gettysburg of the west, it deserves the same respect, fawning, and dissection of what and why the battle was lost as its more famous brethren.

The battle of Westport can be broken down to areas like Brush Creek, battle for the fords like Byram, & Hickman Mills, and Russell bridge just as Gettysburg has Little Round Top, Culps Hill, and Cemetery Hi

Price's raid like Lee's raid came out of desperate hope and ended in great defeats for both that ended the last time of ever bring the war to the Union's backyard again. After the great defeats these once hopeful raids turned into desperate flights homes with pending doom biting it their feet...

All I say is Westport needs some Civil War buffs insight....a little dissection and commentary..

During the Battle of Westport at Byram's Ford what seems to be an a first time event during the war. Regiments form Arkansas and Missouri representing both the union and confederacy went head to head on the battlefield. It seems the war went form brother vs brother to neighbor vs neighbor at Westport that day.

a muse....
