Weather was a prime ingredient at Brice's Crossroads - Forrest figured the humid heat right into his battle plan. He did that at Fallen Timbers as well. It had rained, as it always seemed to do with big battles, and he selected the battle field - a ridge above an area that had been logged but not all the timber removed, and there were many tangled bushes and brush as well as mud. Hard going for infantry moving uphill, not that bad for cavalry coming down!
