Not very many people know about the connection between the Stuart/Patton families. Details like that fill out such historical persons so that they aren't just an academic study or confined to a book. There is a line, a longer story, and way more future than past in their stories! This Myers family were friends with General Hero Von Borke from Germany. Tank Commander General George S Patton talked about General Heros Von Borke when he was in Germany in 1945 Of course his grandfather CSA Col George Patton was under CSA General Stonewall Jackson. He was killed in Winchester by a Union cannon ball. The location is now the intersection of RT-50 and I-81. This fact has caused me lots of trouble in research in Germany which leads to the Eisenhower farm in Gettysburg.

Folklore........This goes along with what the Thompson Machine Gun people tell me as they have a rather large collection
Donald T Thompson, the head of NASA at Langley Field, gave NASA over to Wernher Von Braun in 1955 and General Jemmy Doolittle approved it. They are the ones who have Amelia Earhart stuff. It was General George S Patton who was friends with General John T Thompson. I have lots of records on this that leads to Fort Colt at Gettysburg.Folklore........
- A "Thompson" who searches for Earhart: An aerospace engineer and explorer named Jon Thompson has been involved in several privately-funded searches for Earhart's lost plane. This Memphis-based Thompson is a collector and has helped fund exhibitions related to the Titanic, but there is no public record connecting him to a collection of Thompson machine guns.
- Commander Warner K. Thompson: A U.S. Coast Guard Commander named Warner K. Thompson commanded the cutter Itasca during the original 1937 search for Earhart. He has been referenced in historical accounts and reports concerning her disappearance but was not associated with machine guns.
- The Thompson machine gun inventor: The iconic "Tommy gun" was invented by Brigadier General John T. Thompson. There is no known connection between him or a collection of his firearms and the story of Amelia Earhart.
