Here a true conspiracy involving the oil and plastic corporation and marketing campaign of lies and the recycling symbol that fooled us all... I could not find a good written article but I found a 4min radion lead in to the story and a 24 min radio show on it...

Snip... the 4min lead to the story... link below... I hate NPR links

snip... 24 min whole story about the plastic recycling conspiracy... on Planet Money show... link below... I hates these NPR links...

Only 10% of all the plastic has been recycle ever... its not economical, plastic degraded if recycled, and the oil industry wants to use virgin oil to make plastics...

Here a good frontline show on the topic with short video takes..

These symbols a big con job...

as long as they are still oil fired plastics should be burnt up in iron works (at least here they got the filters for it) - it's also often used in wast incineration plants (got those filters, too) because without the plastics the garbage doesn't get hot enough to burn the bad stuff safely.

Did you listen the shows and see the ad campaigns they did to fool us all into thinking plastics can be recycled or were being recycled... The orginal ad guys are still alive and admit it was their job... they have boxes of evidence about the decades a long effort to con us...

I hate to burst bubbles. I have been to a plastic manufacturing company that exclusively uses recycled plastics in many products. My company bought a composite component for railcars that had plastic liners made from recycled plastic. I have seen the process with my own eyes.

there is surely stuff but it amounts to a one figure percentage (5,6 % in germany in 2017) vs 53% thermal recycling aka burned up - the rest was sold (often for a negative price) to mostly third world countries as a resource - it's really a bad joke

The guy in this article says bioplastics not any better... than normal plastics...

snip...

A better solution is to recycle bioplastics instead of composting them, Huang said. "If we switch the name and recycle it seriously and stop single use, that could be a good solution. Single-use is where all the problems begin."

Here is a new story Plastic rocks in nature... cause by mankind...

Now researchers have discovered a new kind of igneous rock,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastiglomerate#Originformed almost completely from plastic, on Trindade Island, a volcanic island more than 600 miles east of Espírito Santo in Brazil, said Fernanda Avelar Santos, a geologist at the Federal University of Paraná in Brazil.

Plastiglomerate is a rock made of a mixture of sedimentary grains, and other natural debris (e.g. shells, wood) that is held together by plastic.[1] It has been considered a potential marker of the Anthropocene, an informal epoch of the Quaternary proposed by some social scientists, environmentalists, and geologists.[2]

Microplastics are inside us our poop tells us so... They are everywhere...

Across our terrestrial and marine environments, microplastics have been found in most places where scientists have looked, including some of the most remote spots on Earth, threatening and, in some cases killing, wildlife.

That sludge – known as biosolids – is widely used as a fertiliser and soil improver on agricultural land. Some scientists have asked if this process means agricultural soils are an unforeseen dump for domestic microplastics.

Our exposure to tiny pieces of plastic isn’t limited to what we drink or eat. A team from Macquarie University in Sydney took samples of airborne dust from homes and in a study released earlier this month found about 40% of it was plastic.

Taylor, who carried out the dust study, says it would be “overreach” to say there are demonstrable effects on our health from ingesting microplastics, but he stresses this doesn’t mean future studies won’t find problems.

Here, First found in us 2018...

Microplastics have been found in human stools for the first time, according to a study suggesting the tiny particles may be widespread in the human food chain.

Based on this study, the authors estimated that “more than 50% of the world population might have microplastics in their stools”, though they stressed the need for larger-scale studies to confirm this.

But there is hope a kid in Ireland found a way to remove microplastics from water...

Here is a video about the back story of this lad's invention...
