An historical romance set in World War One Ottoman Empire, unusual. Feisty American nurse from wealthy family travels to eastern Anatolia, (Armenia). Meets dashing Ottoman lieutenant, and dashing American doctor(Josh Hartnett).
Love affair, and the entire Armenian genocide gets whitewashed, and never actually shown or even mentioned. There were good people on both sides! Did I mention that the film was financed by the Turkish government? Imagine Goebbels directing Schlinder's List.
Bad but not in a so bad its good way. Bad in a bad way.
Fascinating history, made dull, dull dull. Gives government propaganda a bad name. The leading actress acted like she was sedated the entire time as well.
Not recommended.
