The Myers family were close friends with General Robert E Lee and the Murphy family were close friends with General Philip Sheridan. Both were friends with General John C Fremont. From the records of the book "Two Years Before the Mast" by Richard Henry Dana. I got this book from the Helen R Hoffman Plantation in Florida.

General John C Fremont.
General Philip Sheridan and General John C. Frémont were not friends; in fact, Sheridan's first major assignment of the Civil War was to audit and investigate Frémont's disorderly financial records due to charges of wasteful spending and corruption in his department.

Indeed. General Philip Sheridan WAS friends with General John Sutter of Sutter's Mill. Although as silversmiths, we are more related to the Comstocks. The Bonanza TV series was filmed in Santa Barbara County. Although I am more interested in General Lew Wallace being friends with Edwin Booth. Then Margaret Booth being friends with Louis B Mayer. Last, Louis B Mayer being friends with Art Rooney. This goes back to Mary Tyler Moore being friends with the Reiners and the Jacksons of Stonewall Jackson. The very last is Ward Hill Lamon being friends with John Wilkes Booth and his sister.

Margaret Booth and Louis B. Mayer were not friends in a typical social sense; rather, they had a strong professional working relationship that was central to the success of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM).

I will go with that. Same with Louis B Mayer and Art Rooney or even Louis B Mayer's cousin Carmel Myers and Joseph P Kenendy.

His sister worked for Paul Revere. His brother was friends with George Washington. Although one was married into the General William Howe family of NYC.

More like these guys and the Fleischmann Yeast Family.

While specific suppliers for all Irish brewers in Pittsburgh aren't detailed in these results, the primary source for authentic Irish brewing yeast, especially Guinness, is the unique strain maintained and propagated from their historic Watling Laboratory stock, with modern large-scale suppliers like GEA providing equipment for breweries like Pittsburgh Brewing. Historically, brewers would rely on their own carefully maintained "backslopping" methods to cultivate yeast, but for traditional Irish beers, the yeast itself comes from established, often unique, lineages.
Key Points on Yeast Supply:

  • Guinness's Unique Strain: The yeast for Guinness is a distinct lineage, traced back to 1903, and is a closely guarded secret, used globally.
  • Backslopping: Historically, brewers saved a portion of a successful batch (yeast and all) to start the next, domesticating strains over time.
  • Modernization: Companies like GEA supply equipment, but the yeast itself is often proprietary or from specialized labs.
  • Irish Connection: For breweries wanting to replicate Irish styles, they often seek out specific heritage yeasts or work with suppliers who can provide these specialized strains.
So, while a Pittsburgh brewer might buy equipment from GEA, the yeast for an Irish-style brew would likely come from a specialized yeast lab or be directly sourced from Ireland if they're aiming for authenticity, rather than a general supplier

I am talking about a very specific Fleischmann Yeast that was used to rebuild the Santa Barbara Mission in Santa Barbara California after the 1925 quake with the help of the Murphy Smithwick and O'Hara families of David O Selznick and Father Thomas Ewing Sherman.
