On 13th September 2010, archaeologists digging at a site at the fortress of Caerleon, uncovered an entire suit of Roman armour and some weapons. It was only the third or fourth to be found in the UK, and the first in Wales.
The suit was found alongside a number of copper and bronze studs and hinges and was in remarkably good condition considering Roman armour was usually made of iron. Caerleon (Isca), which dates from AD 75 and was occupied for between 200 and 300 years, was one of three permanent legionary fortresses in the UK and was built to house 5,500 Roman citizens.

Here is a link about Romans adopting Celtic armor ... Celtics were great metal workers...

snip...

Celtic people created several armors that were widely adopted by the army of the Roman Empire. People in La Tene culture were also known to Romans as Gauls (Celtic Culture-Hallstatt and La Tene),

snip...

Most notable armors in La Tene culture are attributed to Celtic people. The styles of their armor designs in helmets or cuirasses were popular and many of them were adopted by the army of Roman Empire in later period. Perhaps one of the most remarkable armor designs of the Celts in La Tene era was the creation of mail armor, which still appeared in other parts of the world hundreds of years later.

I have a question did the Romans or did the Germanic tribes in the end win the epic battle between these cultures and people. Today the Romans are gone and the Germanic tribes are gone. In their place are new cultures descended from them...

There is a map in this links that shows the tribes won...

https://courses.lumenlearning.com/boundless-worldhistory/chapter/the-germanic-tribes/

During the 5th century, as the Western Roman Empire lost military strength and political cohesion, numerous nomadic Germanic peoples, under pressure from population growth and invading Asian groups, began migrating en masse in various directions, taking them to Great Britain and far south through present-day Continental Europe to the Mediterranean and Northern Africa.

Over time this wandering meant intrusions into other tribal territories, and the ensuing wars for land escalated with the dwindling amount of unoccupied territory. Wandering tribes then began staking out permanent homes as a means of protection. This resulted in fixed settlements from which many tribes, under a powerful leader, expanded outwards.

Ostrogoths, Visigoths, and Lombards made their way into Italy; Vandals, Burgundians, Franks, and Visigoths conquered much of Gaul; Vandals and Visigoths also pushed into Spain, with the Vandals additionally making it into North Africa; and the Alamanni established a strong presence in the middle Rhine and Alps. In Denmark, the Jutes merged with the Danes; and in Sweden, the Geats and Gutes merged with the Swedes. In England, the Angles merged with the Saxons and other groups (notably the Jutes), and absorbed some natives, to form the Anglo-Saxons (later known as the English). Essentially, Roman civilization was overrun by these variants of Germanic peoples during the 5th century.

@rittmeister , @Wehrkraftzersetzer , @Daring Drea I think you Germans should play up your defeat of the Romans in Gaul... By the 4th century, your Germanic tribes had replaced the Romans in Gaul, Spain, Italy and North Africa... In the end you all vanquish Roman...

From 395 the division of the Roman Empire into an eastern and a western half reinforced acute internal political stresses that encouraged barbarian penetration of the Danube region and even Italy. The Rhine frontier was again neglected, and the seat of the Gallic prefecture was moved to Arelate. The result was Germanic invasion, most dramatically the mass crossing of the Rhine in 405–406, and civil war. By 418, Franks and Burgundians were established west of the Rhine, and the Visigoths settled in Aquitania (Aquitaine). These Germans, however, were nominally allies of the empire, and, mainly because of the energy of the Roman general Flavius Aetius, they were kept in check. The death of Aetius in 454 and the growing debility of a western imperial government hamstrung by the loss of Africa to the Vandals created a power vacuum in Gaul. It was filled by the Visigoths, at first indirectly through the nomination of the emperor Avitus (reigned 455–456) and then directly by their own kings, the most important being King Euric (466–484). Between 460 and 480 there was steady Visigothic encroachment on Roman territory to the east; the Burgundians followed suit, expanding westward from Sapaudia (now Savoy). In 476 the last imperial possessions in Provence were formally ceded to the Visigoths.

My Point is Germanic tribes fought for centuries and in the end won... German history should crow about it. In most the Roman literature they are cleaning the Germanic tribes clocks...

Here is African Armor... It goes through different Kingdoms and what they wore as armor...

Since Africa lies in the tropics, it is understandable that they wore various armor based on fabric and leather. Though metal armor was rare, it doesn’t mean they didn’t exist or warriors didn’t use them. But clearly, they didn’t wear a suit of plate armor.

Various armies wanted to take over territories under these regions since the largest empires dominated these lands. The most popular armor for these African armies was dense clothing similar to the European gambeson. In general, they called it lifida

Mali warriors wore mail armor which they called sulke. As all African warriors, they wore it with their lifida.

I found this I think it is accurate..View attachment 14806
it's certainly not a carricature - it's showing the evaluation of helmets and you easily could enlarge it up to the 21st century

for comparisson:
Brodie's helmet resembled designs from past eras in particular the medieval infantry kettle hat or chapel-de-fer and the samurai/ashigaru jingasa helmet,
Schwerd then undertook the task of designing and producing a suitable helmet, broadly based on the 15th-century sallet, which provided good protection for the head and neck.
