Sometimes history ain't kind to all of the old politicians while it is to others and some are done right overlooked in today's world. To me when it comes to politics and politicians themselves there is the good, the bad, and the ugly side to them. I thought it would be nice to talk about the politicians of the era. To give an idea, there is a poll and you can pick the best of them. Im assuming Jefferson can count assuming this era counts as 1800 or so forward but correct me if I'm mistaken.

The person that comes to mind when it comes to the good, the bad, and the ugly side would be Calhoun. I agree with the rights of the states part, but I strongly disagree with his quotes like "Slavery is a necessary evil" and "Slavery is a positive good". The good being rights for states but the bad and the ugly being his view on slavery.

the good, the bad and the ugly are three different dudes (clint eastwood, lee van cleef and eli wallach respectively)

... i do agree that calhoun needs to be the ugly, though.

I was just thinking, asking who my favorite politician is almost like asking what is your favorite poison.

Is there a period in American history, we should be looking at? Like before the Civil War, during the Civil War, or after the Civil War...

Really, Are you old enough to remember him? I figure you are younger than me...
Well, I did post this in the Antebellum area

Correct me if I'm wrong but Calhoun was South Carolina senator when he nullified the tariff of 1828 right ? I recall he was a representative and eventually the Vice president but I don't remember what his last position was or the exact order.
