IMHO i believe Parson Brownlow extreme treatment of ex confederates was a major cause to the start of Jim Crow..
Any thoughts on this.

It was certainly a contributing factor. I'm not sure how major was its influence.

Who is this guy? I guess I could Google him but why not let y'all do a little of my homework. Lol. Seems he has a reputation of sorts

Only in Nitti's mind. :huh:  He was actually a pretty big deal in Tennessee as a newspaperman before the war and a government bigwig after it.

Brownlow was so bad that after the war when he was governor he put legislatures up in front of a firing squard and was going to shoot them if they didn't vote his way.

Would it not be far more accurate to say that Southern whites were violently opposed to Civil Rights for blacks and efforts to disenfranchise AA's continue in the American South to this day.
