It may be The Very Cause of the War, I always respected the tariff argument and they went back to the tariffs of 1832 with Andrew Jackson and Calhoun and the nullification crisis of that tariff said Jefferson Davis presently, then on the secession. That was said. That's the speech...

So you learned in history that London started the Industrial Revolution. They had all kinds of poor have to work in bad conditions , cotton mills, anything watermill powered. They had their own stock market then ,especially about cotton, America was primary source for the cotton, then distributed products. The Southern Greek Revival Mansion was Particularly caught-up on the Victorian fashion, furniture, china plates, hutches, knick knacks. "Home Sweet Home" is a sentiment that's Victorian.

Its a base-line Socialist Nationalist instrument in force, that because a company and a product crosses an ocean that your nation gets to unequally tax the moving product. Its a fact of life, a big red flag in the commercial soccer/football match. They used the Country and the economy to fund their own Industrial Revolution , of course, in the United States.

Tariff of 1857 - Wikipedia
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tariff_of_1857

No debate tariffs were lowered in 1857 to low levels since 1816... this tariff argument just does not hold water...

The Tariff of 1857 was a major tax reduction in the United States that amended the Walker Tariff of 1846 by lowering rates to between 15% and 24%.[1][2]

Morrill tariff was in 1861... after secession began...

When the Panic of 1857 struck later that year, protectionists, led by economist Henry C. Carey, blamed the downturn on the new tariff.[3] The Tariff of 1857's cuts lasted only a few years, as the highly protectionist Morrill Tariff was signed into law in March 1861.[4]

Note...

In 1857, the average rate was reduced to the neighborhood of 20 percent. The trend toward lower tariffs had begun most recently in the Walker Tariff of 1846, but would be abruptly halted by wartime tariff measures.

Notre...

Downward tariff revision to almost free trade status; North opposed; (Buchanan administration).

Note... it was the North not the South that was upset...

The Tariff of 1857 was warmly greeted in the South and roundly derided in the North. The tariff was one of a number of major issues that was dangerously increasing the tension between the two regions.

Note... because the southerns left the congress, this happened... but 1861

The Morrill Tariff of 1861 was an increased import tariff in the United States, adopted on March 2, 1861, during the administration of President James Buchanan, a Democrat. It was the twelfth of seventeen planks in the platform of the incoming Republican Party, which had not yet been inaugurated, and it appealed to industrialists and factory workers as a way to foster rapid industrial growth.[1]

It was named for its sponsor, Representative Justin Smith Morrill of Vermont, who drafted it with the advice of Pennsylvania economist Henry Charles Carey. The passage of the tariff was possible because many tariff-averse Southerners had resigned from Congress after their states declared their secession. The Morrill Tariff raised rates to encourage domestic industry and to foster high wages for industrial workers.[2]

Stop while I'm ahead. You're a sociopathic sparring partner? Well listen sociopathic sparring partner... a tax or duty to be paid on a particular class of imports or exports. A tariff is a tax imposed by a government of a country or of a supranational union on imports or exports of goods. Besides being a source of revenue for the government, import duties can also be a form of regulation of foreign trade and policy that taxes foreign products to encourage or safeguard domestic industry. Tariffs are among the most widely used instruments of protectionism, along with import and export quotas.

National Socialism (Nazism) is a far-left totalitarian system originally created in Germany immediately following World War I .National Socialism is related to socialism in which the basic core is a control of people, property, and income by a centralized government.

Tariff is the fanciest bleeding word to put on abstract torture of the markets. Every 5th grader pooping themselves knows better than you obviously that a strong federal central government is the one in force and in charge of feeding itselve with the markets.

Snip... sounds like the Republican party of today...

Nazism is a form of fascism,[2][3][4][5] with disdain for liberal democracy and the parliamentary system. It incorporates fervent antisemitism, anti-communism, scientific racism, and the use of eugenics into its creed. Its extreme nationalism originated in pan-Germanism and the ethno-nationalist Völkisch movement which had been a prominent aspect of German nationalism since the late 19th century, and it was strongly influenced by the Freikorps paramilitary groups that emerged after Germany's defeat in World War I, from which came the party's underlying "cult of violence".[6] Nazism subscribed to pseudo-scientific theories of a racial hierarchy[7] and social Darwinism, identifying the Germans as a part of what the Nazis regarded as an Aryan or Nordic master race.[8] It aimed to overcome social divisions and create a German homogeneous society based on racial purity which represented a people's community (Volksgemeinschaft). The Nazis aimed to unite all Germans living in historically German territory, as well as gain additional lands for German expansion under the doctrine of Lebensraum and exclude those who they deemed either Community Aliens or "inferior" races.

The term "National Socialism" arose out of attempts to create a nationalist redefinition of socialism, as an alternative to both Marxist international socialism and free-market capitalism. Nazism rejected the Marxist concepts of class conflict and universal equality, opposed cosmopolitan internationalism and sought to convince all parts of the new German society to subordinate their personal interests to the "common good", accepting political interests as the main priority of economic organisation,[9] which tended to match the general outlook of collectivism or communitarianism rather than economic socialism. The Nazi Party's precursor, the pan-German nationalist and antisemitic German Workers' Party (DAP), was founded on 5 January 1919. By the early 1920s, the party was renamed the National Socialist German Workers' Party to attract workers away from left-wing parties such as the Social Democrats (SPD) and the Communists (KPD), and Adolf Hitler assumed control of the organisation. The National Socialist Program, or "25 Points", was adopted in 1920 and called for a united Greater Germany that would deny citizenship to Jews or those of Jewish descent, while also supporting land reform and the nationalisation of some industries. In Mein Kampf, literally "My Struggle" and published in 1925–1926, Hitler outlined the antisemitism and anti-communism at the heart of his political philosophy as well as his disdain for representative democracy and his belief in Germany's right to territorial expansion.

Snip.... from the man that coined the word...

Benito Mussolini,
"Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power."

.

Benito Mussolini, who was the first to use the term for his political party in 1915, described fascism in The Doctrine of Fascism as follows:[17]
Granted that the 19th century was the century of socialism, liberalism, democracy, this does not mean that the 20th century must also be the century of socialism, liberalism, democracy. Political doctrines pass; nations remain. We are free to believe that this is the century of authority, a century tending to the 'right', a Fascist century. If the 19th century were the century of the individual (liberalism implies individualism) we are free to believe that this is the 'collective' century, and therefore the century of the State.
The Fascist conception of the State is all-embracing; outside of it no human or spiritual values can exist, much less have value. Thus understood, Fascism is totalitarian, and the Fascist State—a synthesis and a unit inclusive of all values—interprets, develops, and potentiates the whole life of a people.
...everything in the state, nothing against the State, nothing outside the state.
Fascism is a religious conception in which man is seen in his immanent relationship with a superior law and with an objective Will that transcends the particular individual and raises him to conscious membership of a spiritual society. Whoever has seen in the religious politics of the Fascist regime nothing but mere opportunism has not understood that Fascism besides being a system of government is also, and above all, a system of though

Fascism, and especially Nazism, is a far-right ideology.
War's got the Right hand and the Left hand, I don't get it. A bunch of hippies shout about the South being Nazis and obviously the Free Man they were saying is the man that's figuring this out. The Free Man knows tariff is a pretty word on total dictatorial control of Government, which has no products, does not produce, coming down to be a road toll and cutthroat supporting its worker by stealing from the overseas worker. stealing from your trade.
