What would Gen. Lee do if a Time traveler went back in time to 1863 or 1864 and gave him three small "tactical" nuclear warheads?

The Time Traveler says "If you use these items you will open the gates of hell but victory will be yours"

Would Gen. Lee use these warheads against the union?

If he used one warhead, would he have used another after seeing its power to bring death and destruction?

Would the Confederacy have won the Civil War with three small nuclear weapons?

A thought to ponder...

he simply wouldn't have understood it.
- the physics
- the effects
- the "manual"

If he understood it? I think not. Killing people was ok, killing people with the help of Lucifer himself? Don't think so.

It's a question like was Lee / Grant / Sherman better than Westmoreland? The question is senseless the whole battlefield would have been running if a single transport heli with machingunfire out of the "loading door(s)" showed up.

just beyond imagination, when they finally would have accepted it the war would have been over for years.

like what would Julius Ceasar have made when attacked by an APC (firing & moving)?

Yes, but Lee would have understood it was a weapon, that could change the war.

I figure the Time Traveller would have made the nukes easy to operate for Lee's men.

Let's be, honest the Time Traveller would have brought nukes capable of being fired out of a 19th-century weapon... I am not saying the canon crew not going to get vaporized, along with the Yankees...

I think the Time Traveller would have planned it out before handing them over to Lee...

a 12 pounder nuke? nice idea - got some schematics for the ball?

... don't you think that's a tad ridiculuos. so far atomic annie was the smallest nuclear gun (at 280 mm compared to the napoleons' 121 mm)

What if Lee had access to a more simple and more understandable technology, say... like AK's? Spray n' pray.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The story deals with a group of time-traveling Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging members from 2014, led by Andries Rhoodie, who wish to alter the outcome of the Civil War and, as a result, ensure the success of their own cause in the future. In order to do this, they provide General Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia and General Joseph Johnston's Army of Tennessee with a large number of AK-47s. To all but a few Confederate leaders, who are told the truth, they are known as "the Rivington men" after the (fictional) North Carolina where they set up their base. They explain the AWB initials on their organizational flag as standing for "America Will Break"

Have you ever hear the search for life rule: If you scan the heaven and find no signals it does not prove there is or isn't intelligent life in space... If you scan the heavens and hear one signal of intelligent life it does not mean there is more out there... but if you scan the heavens and find a second signal of intelligent life than you can conclude " if there is second signal than there a an infinity of intelligent life out in space."

I argue if you use one nuke it does not mean you will use another but if you use two nukes then you will use nukes until they are gone... Think about WW two we dropped two nukes on Japan and were preparing to drop more but they surrender... History is the proof...

If Lee had dropped two nukes, he would have used the third...
