1829 - Jackson supporters Isaac Hill and Levi Woodbury ask that the manager of the 2nd National Bank of the United States in Portsmouth, NH, be removed because he is a Whig. Bank President Nicholas Biddle refuses.

  • The State of Tennessee reports that the general election favors secession from the Union by a 2 to 1 vote. This confirms the action already taken by the State Legislature, led by Governor Isham Harris.
  • Brig. Gen. Robert S. Garnett, CSA, is assigned to the command of troops in Northwestern VA, (WV) after incident at Philippi, Jun 3, WV.
  • The Virginia state troops are transferred to the Confederate States of America by Virginia Governor, John Letcher.

  • Federal expedition from Fort Churchill to the Humboldt River, Smoke Valley, and Surprise Valley, 200 miles east of Yreka, the Nevada Territory. (Jun 8-Aug 9)
