  • Gen. Robert E. Lee, CSA, moves the 1st and 2nd Corp (Lieut. Gens. Longstreet and Ewell) to Culpeper, VA, keeping the 3rd Army Corps of the Army of Northern Virginia, under Lieut. Gen. A. P. Hill, CSA at Fredericksburg, VA. The Cavalry Corps under Maj. Gen. JEB Stuart, CSA, is sent on a protective covering of the army's advance.

  • Skirmish on the Lawyers' road, near Fairfax Court-House, VA, as the Federals are ambushed by the Confederates after passing Frying Pan; the Federals regrouped and chased the Rebels to Aldie, the Yankee returning via Dranesville.

Gen. George E. Pickett, CSA, is reported 10 miles away at Newtown with 10,000 Rebels. (Jun 4-5)

  • Action at Big Shanty and Acworth, GA, as Gen. Joseph E. Johnston, CSA, moves from New Hope Church area outside Atlanta to fortified positions fronting Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman, USA, at the Pine Mountains, GA.
  • Affair at Hudson's Crossing, Neosho River, the Indian Territory, where the Federals follow up and attack bushwackers, who originally attacked the Federal Indian brigade moving to meet the refugee train at Hudson's Crossing and burn their camp.
  • Brig. Gen. John Hunt Morgan's, CSA, Cavalry forces enter Kentucky towards Lexington.
  • Skirmish near Vicksburg, MS.
