--- Song was first written as a poem by Julia Tutwiler, a distinguished educator and humanitarian. It was first sung to an Austrian air, but in 1931, the music written by Mrs. Edna Gockel Gussen, an organist and choirmaster from Birmingham, Alabama, was adopted by the State Federation of Music Clubs and through their efforts, House Joint Resolution 74 was adopted March 9, 1931. Act no. 126, adopted the music and words as the state song of Alabama. The bill was introduced by the Hon. Tyler Goodwyn, Montgomery, and was signed into law by Governor B.M. Miller. The inspiration for writing the poem Alabama came to Julia Tutwiler after she returned to her native state from Germany, where she had been studying new educational methods for girls and women. She recalled that in Germany patriotism was inspired by spirited songs. She thought that it would be helpful toward restoring the spirits of her own people to give them a new patriotic song, inspiring her to write "Alabama."

Hmm...
;) Imagine that...

Yes, that song has a germanic flavor, you do know of course that The House of Windsor was The House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha before WW I?

The House of Windsor came into being in 1917, when the name was adopted as the British Royal Family's official name by a proclamation of King George V, replacing the historic name of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. It remains the family name of the current Royal Family.

Kilts as we see them today are a relatively modern invention (invented in the 1800's) and are different from the dress of traditional Highlanders, they wore large pieces of woven material called a "feileadh mhòr" (big wrap) which when worn correctly offered a multipurpose garment.

The "kilt" was a lot easier to make than tailored trousers and could be used as a blanket for sleeping or wrapped around you in the cold. Trousers also tend to become soaked and make walking through Marsh & wetlands difficult. Though it should be noted that trousers and other garments were worn to suit the situation.

The full Kilt garment was also an advantage during battle using the large Claymore Swords. (some may say it ultimately became a disadvantage).

The kilt garment would not have been used for clan identification as again tartan was a later invention. Highland garments were brown and dark greens, though different regions would have used different dies and wools etc.

its too late for the Japanese to know that. They are now stuck between nagasaki and fukashima. and the other one.

Gimme That Ol’ Time Religion! on Vimeo
A great man who now reposes with his fathers, and who has been often arraigned for a want of fealty to the Union, advocated the doctrine of nullification, because it preserved the Union.
t has been a conviction of pressing necessity, it has been a belief that we are to be deprived in the Union of the rights which our fathers bequeathed to us, which has brought Mississippi into her present decision.
and when you deny them, and when you deny to us the right to withdraw from a Government which thus perverted threatens to be destructive of our rights, we but tread in the path of our fathers when we proclaim our independence, and take the hazard
The reverse may bring disaster on every portion of the country; and if you will have it thus, we will invoke the God of our fathers

Stonewall's Jackson's 10,000's massed on this hymn claimed the 1866 biography.
Your point is? And what is your post's connection to the OP.
