See here the tent of a black servant in the ranks, a standard issue "A" tent -- which is a notch above the the "dog tents" (shelter halves) privates were issued. This servant's tent has attached a homemade fireplace chimney, indicating a long-term camp.

Also interesting is the headquarter's blacksmith's tent -- note how huge an area it covers!

In the same vein, note the ingenuity here of a tent supplied by heat via a remote tunnel (compared to most of the tents having homemade fireplace chimneys). Also note the typical practice of long-term camps to build up the sides of tents with logs for more sleeping and standing space. This is something hardly ever shown at reenactments (for obvious reasons), though I've seen one or two attempts by individuals to portray long-term tentage this way.
