That's an interesting study - I wonder about that in a number of ways. The Native people here more or less were isolated for so long we became unique in many ways from other folks - not many can be vegetarians, for example - and wonder how much that factors into our unusual susceptibility to this virus. Lots of mess-up from the government and all that but it looks like the virus just likes us best of all! The article noted that blacks and Hispanics got it more often but recovered better than whites or Asians.

Data scientist Jones, meanwhile, continues to be one of the biggest thorns in the governor’s side. After her dismissal, for “insubordination” according to DeSantis’s staff, the geospatial science graduate created her own privately-funded rival Covid-19 database for Florida.

Based on official state figures, Jones’s platform expands them in several key areas, notably increased numbers of cases and deaths. Those figures are higher, she says, because Florida reports only statistics for residents, and does not include out-of-state visitors.

Additionally, the Jones database features statistics that the state site does not, including the number of ICU beds available across Florida, and whether any of its 67 counties meets current state criteria for reopening. As of Thursday, only three did.

The Florida department of health did not respond to a request from the Guardian for comment about Jones’s allegations of data deletion, or the discrepancies between her database and the state figures.

Here is an autopsy report on 90 covid 19 deaths in New York City. It is more than a flu bug... Read where it attacks the body....

Sometimes I wonder. I'm grateful tribe has finally gotten that Covid-19 money and is distributing it to the people. Eventually. The distribution might start in December, after they've processed the applications. I noticed I have to keep receipts of how I spent the money and can't buy alcohol, tobacco, drugs, or anything that might be considered lavish. (I don't know...would a new pair of orthopedic shoes be considered lavish if I got the sparkly pink ones? Should I just stick to plain Frankenstein black?) Gotta pay it back if they think it's been spent lavishly. Hmmm... I wonder if any other group in this country has had any strings attached to their government Covid check?

I am unaware of any restrictions on mine. My kid spent his on gaming stuff. OTOH we did not have a third party getting the money and distributing it.

There's no reason tribe should be distributing it, actually. It's like when they were distributing the non-gaming tribes money - they didn't. It rolled back into the general fund where nobody can hear the dogs bark...

Ain't it the truth - them that has, gets! Remember a few years ago they got some housing funds and all the council members got redwood decks on their pretty dang nice houses....90 year old auntie was still up the creek in her two bit 60s trailer with no heat, no electricity, no nothing!

Bastards, dick-heads. jerk-wads...I am kinda running out names to call a-holes like that.

-----------------------------------------------

O.K. I have more names, but I shall not repeat the many that I was called in many a pool and dart room.

My general retort to such started w/ F' U and then transgressed and in the end required the heavy end of a pool cue from there. ;)
