Christian right is doing it best to take of the United States Army and infiltrate the other services. The little behind the scenes action been going on for years and some question their loyalty to our Government... I bring this because its an on going concern within the ranks... But lets talk about that letter from the Joint Chiefs had sad was that our military having to declare its loyalty to our Constitution and the election a dark day for democracy and the world... WE have drop to Bananan Republic or the old Soviet Union everyone waiting for the Red army to declare it approval of their new leaders...

Here the text... Read and feel your nation fading...

https://news.usni.org/2021/01/12/message-from-joint-chiefs-on-u-s-capitol-riot

Here are articles about the Christians effort to control the army...

snip...

For years, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation has noted the growing efforts by evangelicals to turn the U.S. military into an instrument of their ideology and worldview. While not all evangelicals believe the same, the far more radicalized tend toward a belief called dominionism — a wish to turn America into a nation perhaps not run as a theocratic state but at least run by extreme Christian beliefs, the military included. Hence the reason Pence, with the help of the Family Research Council and the Heritage Foundation, produced a report full of bad anti-transgender science and myths in order to justify the ban. This is not the first time military policy and leadership have been guided not by military regulations and the law but by evangelical proselytizing and beliefs.

snip...

On the Military Religious Freedom Foundation’s website, example after example of reported religious harassment and preaching that exceeds military regulations can be found, along with numerous examples of religious groups such as Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) and Cadence International specifically targeting the military for recruitment. Groups like Cru believe in something called the “Great Commission,” which comes from Matthew 28:19 and says to “Go and make disciples of all nations,” and have stated a goal of turning the military into “government-paid missionaries for Christ.

Here is another report on the matter...

snip...

The MRFF estimates that 84 percent of military chaplains are evangelicals, and about a third of them are fundamentalists, defined by the MRFF as Christians who have decided that their evangelizing and proselytizing need not conform to the U.S. Constitution, case law or any DoD directives restricting their behavior.

Here the last one... fear for the military...

snip...

For Mr. Weinstein – a former Air Force judge advocate and assistant counsel in the Reagan White House – more is involved than isolated cases of discrimination. He charges that several incidents in recent years – and more than 5,000 complaints his group has received from active-duty and retired military personnel – point to a growing willingness inside the military to support a particular brand of Christianity and to permit improper evangelizing in the ranks. More than 95 percent of those complaints come from other Christians, he says.

snip...

For example, he says, Lt. Gen. William Boykin, who gave speeches at churches while in uniform that disparaged Islam and defined the war on terror in fundamentalist, "end times" terms, was not fired but promoted. (Speaking of a Muslim warlord he had pursued, Lt. Gen. Boykin said, "I knew my God was a real God and his was an idol." And our enemies "will only be defeated if we come against them in the name of Jesus."

Interesting, but that brand of Christianity is suffering a demographic demise.

Interestingly enough my son who has been in the USMC for nine years and is an atheist never mentioned the Evangelicals. Not to say there isn't a problem. Hopefully the Biden Administration will clamp down on this crap.

The Christian Church from the get-go has needed government support to dominate.

run for the hills the Christians are coming!!! I don't think evangelicals will be allowed to force their beliefs on others as does our state-funded public schools who force materialism, humanism, atheism and other secular philosophies down out throats 5 days a week. i wouldn't be too concerned your religion [secular government orthodoxy] will win in the end.

History is written by the winners, and that is why the above posters respond as they do. "You obliviously have not read the first amendment to our Constitution... or Jefferson's letter about the separation of church and state... "a perfect example of how history is rewritten. When I have time I will respond in detail on this and many other subjects. That time is not too far ahead and I look forward to it with you gentlemen.

While you are off pondering, how about a brief discussion on if religion is the exclusive property of the evangelicals when you return.

I will start...

religion is the exclusive property of the evangelicals
Here an whiteness and evangelicals... This is why its a threat to the military... the link should work...

Christian nationalism is a movement that seeks to affirm and codify America’s identity as an explicitly Christian country, by leveraging the religion’s influence in the public sphere. Many Christian nationalists believe the federal government should advocate for Christian values, allow prayer in public schools, and allow religious symbols to be displayed in public spaces, according to Andrew Whitehead, a sociologist at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, and others working with him.

White conservatives don’t have a monopoly on Christianity, an incredibly diverse faith practiced worldwide. But in America, Christian nationalism has long been wrapped up in protecting whiteness. Many white evangelicals have grown anxious in recent years about America’s increasing racial diversity, and believe they are losing ground on culture-war issues.

Symbols of white Christian nationalism were present before and during the Jan. 6 insurrection.
People carried crosses and Christian-themed flags. One sign declared “Jesus Saves.” An American flag bore the words “Jesus is my savior, Trump is my President.” Religious rituals and imagery were incorporated into events leading up to the riot, including communal prayers and “Jericho marches.”

False.. History is also written by the loosers. Both Jubal Early and Jefferson Davis sold thousands of copies of their book. Southern white school children have been told for generations that there ancestors fought for freedom.

I can't speak for the Commadant of the Marine Corps or the Secretary of the Navy. Maybe the new Secretary of the Navy might look into that.

And fundamental Christians have their own schools and teachers to teach the history and science they want.

How so the US was always a Christian majority nation since white folks outnumbered Indian folks? Of course churches were not monolith on which side God supported. God apparently fought for both the Confedracy and Union depending on what Pastor one spoke to.

Goes back to Constantine whose Roman Catholic Church was built over the corpses of other Christianities, primarily to end controversies.
