All the "Captain of History" gig does is shut down discussion.

So here we are, once again more than two or three thoughts in a row. I have to say that given your approach, you'll not relate to this response either,

Indeed it does, and it appears that you have not recognized that.

And btw,

I have to say that given your approach, you'll not relate to this response either, and neither
it's either/or vs. neither/nor.

Bingo.

Where does that leave "better served by succinct precision."
We're not writing history, genius. We are discussing finite topics. Succinct precision is de rigueur. If you need a translation I will happily oblige.

...I do not see an either or a nor in the above, so-called phrase.
Well first of all it was a straight-up phrase, regardless of what anyone may have called it, and second of all neither do I see an either or a nor in the phrase, meh.

You know, if we can tear ourselves from the riveting high drama of proper usage for just a moment, do you feel that the fact of Canadian slavery (as stated in the OP) rightly bolsters the claim of today's Lost Cause that the CW wasn't over slavery because all of North America had practiced slavery at some point?

That was not my point, but you seem to be unable too recognize it. If you wish to discuss this further you know where to find me.

That is one approach, yes.

Others can handle more than two or three thoughts at a time, and embrace the more infinite opportunity, to consider all historical aspects and settings to arrive at a better-informed conclusion.

It's either that or forever be in the position of having to "defend" whatever conclusion we'd locked onto at some earlier point in our individual journey. It could be as banal as insisting hardtack was never packed in barrels, or as world-view as insisting the war wasn't fought over slavery.

This thread on Canadian slavery is an opportunity to explore the claim of today's Lost Cause that the CW wasn't fought over slavery because all of North America had practiced slavery at some point. Your succinct opinion on that?
