peanut gallery
The term originated back in the theatre, where the cheapest seats were those way at the bottom floor and where people purchased peanuts because they were the cheapest snack. If they disapproved of the performance, they would throw the peanuts.

Howdy Doody, a show that started in the 1940's (not 50's), the children in the crowd were considered the "Peanut Gallery."

My memories of the Peanut Gallery is a warm one based on my experience as a pre schooler watching B&W TV in the 1950s. When I studied theater in college, I saw Peanut Gallery as part of its history. It is part of Vaudville history,

Today I see it as a lighter-hearted way of having a polite but rough and tumble discussion and debate. After all, I am protecting the presenters from interruption, I also need to allow free expression and a means to collect questions to ask the presenter. I may even provide peanut emojis.

Thanks.

Please let me know if it is disagreeable to anyone.

Thanks.

The seats in the centerfield of the outfield in a baseball stadium... or the seats at the end of the third base side... only places...
It was on the Howdy Doody Show, that's where all the kids sat.

I didn't know the origin or it's use on Howdy Doodie.

I thought the "peanut gallery" meant critics who were small and insignificant.

The original usage was a rowdy group up in the cheap seats tossing peanut shells at performers they disapproved of.

Which can usually be ignored, depending on their aim.

Here is a list of lighthouses that I know that he built. I'm sure there are more, but these are the ones I could find:
*Barnegat Light (New Jersey)
*Absecon Light (New Jersey)
*Cape May Light (New Jersey)
*Juniper Inlet Light (Florida)
*Sombrero Key Light (Florida)
*Sand Key Light (Florida)
*Rebecca Shoal Light (Florida)
My mom loved lighthouses and this was a way that the two of us could put our interests together and enjoy them. She just liked the lighthouses and I loved the history.
Many people remember George Meade as the victorious commander at Gettysburg but he had a whole other life in his lighthouses. Today those monuments tower over the sea as a silent memorial to a great man who many don't even realize was instrumental in getting these towers built: General George Gordon Meade.

Lighthouses are wonderful! There are somewhere in the area of 70 lighthouses on the West Coast, which faces a whole different ocean! Heceta, Cabrillo, Alcatraz, Point Lobos, Point Reyes...lots of points in these names! It seems like half these lighthouses are located around the Bay Area, which is famously shrouded in fog banks so deep Drake passed the Golden Gate five times before he finally saw it!
