Armoured vehicles don't always have to be tracked sometimes wheels are better.
A good case study is the South African Army during the ' border war " of 1966 to 1989.
Long distances on sandy sandy soft roads are hard on tracked vehicles.
The Eland a South African license produced version of the French AML 90 armoured car with it's high velocity 90mm gun knocked out Cuban Army Soviet T 54 tanks in Angola.
Latter the South African's developed the "Rooicat" which is a very unique armoured vehicle especially designed to fight in Southern Africa but it came out a bit late to see combat.
